This captures one of the most consistent messages throughout vedabase:
technology is not condemned; technology without spiritual purpose is incomplete.
That distinction is central to Srila Prabhupada‘s critique of modern Western civilization.
Potential waiting for restoration.
This car is not necessarily junk.
It is waiting for restoration.
Prabhupāda viewed humanity in much the same way. He did not teach that modern people are hopeless; rather, they have forgotten the essential principle. Through devotional service, the dormant Kṛṣṇa consciousness can be revived, and life regains its proper function.
An ordinary observer may think this vehicle is finished.
A skilled mechanic sees something different:
"This can be restored."
Similarly, a pure devotee sees every conditioned soul as capable of revival through hearing and chanting.
No soul is beyond repair.
One could spend hours polishing the windshield or cleaning the wheels.
Yet without the engine, the effort misses the main issue.
Prabhupāda frequently compares modern civilization to decorating a dead body or polishing the cage while neglecting the bird.
The first priority should be restoring what gives life.
The expert mechanic can spot misplaced priorities. Enthusiastic japa puts everything in perspective and fulfils that purpose/ is that engine.
